SPECIALIZED RESIDENTIAL TREATMENT SERVICES
We're Large Enough to Offer Specialty Programs in Small Groups.
Tampa Bay Academy is large enough to offer specialized
treatment tracks. The core treatment occurs within each community
of approximately 10 - 14 patients. Here they will learn to deal
with the problems that tend to be common to all of them. However,
if your child has a special need, Tampa Bay Academy also offers
specialty treatment groups.
Specialized Group Therapy
Individuation
Group
This group for teens is designed to enable the members to work
on issues surrounding separation/individuation, enmeshment and
dependency. Interactions and relations with parents is a primary
focus of the group.
Eating Disorders Group
A co-ed group dedicated to exploring the group members' own
perceptions of why they feel they use food in addictive ways.
The group includes compulsive eaters, anorexics, and binge-purgers.
Play Therapy Group
For children 4 to 7, to help them develop age-appropriate
social skills and learn to play cooperatively. This is designed
to be an effective non-verbal technique, as well as a method
of facilitating verbal expression of feelings.
Coping With Parents Group
A group to help adolescents gain a different
perspective of their parents, based on increasing understanding
of parents' strengths, weaknesses, and most of all, their humanness.
Separation and Loss Group
Provides adolescents with emotional support,
practical help, and validation of their feelings in relation
to their various losses due to death, divorces, separations,
and geographical moves.
Deaf Childrens and Adolescents Groups
Deaf groups are held separately and serve the
needs of our Deaf patients. These groups are facilitated by a
Masters level therapist who also happens to be Deaf.
Spanish Services
Spanish speaking professionals are available
to conduct individual, group and family sessions in addition
to the other numerous Spanish speaking direct care staff.
All of these services are
tailored to develop a specific individualized treatment patient
for each patient. The treatment plan is used to treat each patient's
own needs in a way that is most helpful to him/her. These lists
are not inclusive, but are listed as an example of the kinds of
treatment offered at Tampa Bay Academy. For more information please
contact our Admissions office at (800) 678-3838.
