Living in Balance
Our philosophy of treatment in the co-occurring disorders program is that of a dual diagnosis program utilizing a milieu that integrates rather than isolates the individual in treatment. The basic rationale of the Living in Balance model is that persons addicted to drugs develop a sense of imbalance in major areas of life functioning. To effectively address biopsychosocial-spiritual factors, Living in Balance rests on a foundation of evidence-based addiction treatment approaches. These include Motivational Enhancement Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
Therapeutic groups designed to introduce the patient to key concepts related to dependency and recovery. Patients are helped to explore their experiences and consequences of their drug use.
All adolescent patients receive education regarding chemical dependency; implications of use, HIV disease, and impact of use on family.
Patients attend groups to begin the process of 12 step study and continue to explore their experience and commitment to change and relapse prevention..
